Perhaps the best-tasting honey in the world. Autumn Heather (Erica verticillate) is a small bush that blossoms purple flowers in the autumn months at altitudes of 300 to 500 meters in Arta, Greece. September’s rainfalls are a needed precondition for a successful production of this variation of Organic Greek Honey. This honey does not get cultivated every year because it requires a combination of factors including non-severe winds in the mountains.

Heather flower honey has a rich aroma and taste and it feels like you’re eating caramel. Sometimes reddish, sometimes pure gold like the latest batch, these types of honey crystallize soon after their harvest and are highly nutritious. The heather pollen is considered the most nutritious for bees and humans.

Ebion’s Red Greek Heather honey won a Silver Medal at BIOLMIEL 2014, an international honey contest that takes place in Italy. Try other seasonal Ebion honeys as well such as Oak Tree, and Red Fir. Remember to get them while they’re still available as not only do they not last long, we don’t always get an opportunity to cultivate these honeys and they may very well not last forever.
